The Virtual Revolution

I think that the World Wide Web was a good thing to create but now-a-days people are taking it to extremes. It is a good use for our military and for offices and things like that but the facebook and twitter and how they are creeping on everyone, trying to use the internet against them, isn't right at all. I don't know what my life would even be like without the internet! It is scary to think about... we wouldn't even have this class... Websites like Wiki seem useless to me... Yes it might have some right information on it but how do you know if it is or not? by the time you do more research to look and see if it is true or not you are doind reasearch for research which is a complete waste of time. I never really knew that there is a difference between the web and internet, but now that this genious lady has told me now i know a lot more things about the internet that I have NO CLUE about... :)

FINAL!!!! :D

From the video that we watched today in class was very informational about things that people need to know but not very many people really know about. I never knew that the ordering things online started at pizza hut! That is very interesting to me! But the thing that worries me the most is Google. Google is so huge it is starting to take over the internet I think! I always wanted to know how Google got paid for everything that they do since most of it is free to the public. I have always noticed that when you search something on Google the first site that it pops up with is usually the most helpful but I didn't realize that the sites basically bid on their spot that they pop up on Google. Another thing that I don't like that I found out was that Google can see what you search and sometimes by what you search they can find you! CREEPY! I have used the Google maps and seen how detailed it shows you which is another thing that is really weird but could be helpful if you are looking for directions to somewhere but there are a lot of creepy people out there that would use it for other uses as well. I have really learned a lot of things that I didn't already know but I am glad that I know things like this now..

Music

I think that this wouldn't really effect me very much because I never really need to use music other than when I purchase it off of iTunes and they already take care of all the legal issues for that. The only why I can see it effecting me is if in college I have to do a video or something but now that I know what I need to do to make it where I am not copy writing or anything I will be capable of doing so.

Google Drive

I don't think that Google should be able to modify any of your information what so ever! It is your personal information and I don't think that they should have any rights to do anything with it at all... I think that people should just boycott using google. If they are offering 5 gigs to everyone then let them use "their space" as they want to not how google thinks it needs to be used!

*~* Works Cited *~*

The 3 web sites that I used to cite my book was, easybib, citationmachine, and bibme. I think that the easiest one to use was easybib but when I went to check it on The Owl at Purdue, it wasn't correct. The one that was correct was citationmachine, which is fine by me because that is how i was taught how to site a book in a biliography. The bibme website was alright to use but it wasn't written right either.

Thoughts about FB privacy

I have had FaceBook for 4 or 5 years now and I didn't realize a lot of the changing and things they do to the privacy policy. I don't think that it is very right for them to change it all the time because nobody wants to read the to policy every time they change it (or is that their point?) In the past I have messed with my privacy settings but probably not as much as I need to. I use to use FaceBook all the time but I have slowed way down... Now that I have watched the video about their policy I think I might just delete it... there is no sense in it anymore really...

What I learned about Digital Footprints

Today in class I learned a few things. Like Internet etiquette, Google's new privacy policy and how to keep safe on the internet. Internet Etiquette is something I think A LOT of people need to learn! There are SO many people out there that I like to call "E-Thugs" that do it just to get a rise out of someone! If you have nothing better to do than to bully and be rude to people online then they don't even need to own a computer. Another thing that I learned today that I thought was interesting was Google's new privacy policy. I am not sure where Google was trying to go with it but I don't like it because it keeps track of EVERYTHING you do and ANYONE with a Google account can see it! The last thing that just blew my mind was getting on the sites where you can find yourself. It was scary to me to find that not only does it know where I live but it also popped up my relatives as well! :/

My Opinion About Digital Footprints

I think that Digital Footprints get a little bit scarey at time. After watching the videos about how people can find out where you live in a snap of a finger kinda makes me a little leery about all of my accounts that I have online. I personally don't think that it is fair for a business to not hire you because they have seen pictures or statuses on Facebook or Twitter. I just seems to me like you can't really live your own life anymore. I think that what you post on the internet is your business. Even if you delete a picture from the internet people can still track it. I think that yeah some people may have bad pictures at one time and then delete it but I don't think that they should be penalized for it forever. The past is the past... People change... I just don't think it's right.

Phone jailbreaking should stay legal, Web freedom advocates say

In this article, they are talking about how Apple wants to start suing people if they Jailbreak their iPhone because their software has a copy write on it. I think that people should have the freedom to do whatever they want with their phones. The iPhones are expensive and if I bought an iPhone of my own I would want to do whatever I wanted to do with it. It is people choice if they want to risk their phones to get bugs or not. I think that Apple is wanting to take too much control over their products.

About 21st Century Skills Class

In 21st Century Skills class I have really learned a lot. The only thing that gets me sometimes is all the multitasking and linking everything together. At my old school I had a lot of computer classes but none of them were really classes on the internet, they were all classes on specific programs like Photoshop and things like that. I really like the fact that in this class we get to explore the in's and out's of the internet and different programs that work through the internet. I really think that this is a really good opportunity to be able to take this class.
Here's my first post
